Gastrointestinal tract infection

GENTANOVA 5% 

Sterile aqueous solution for injection

Composition : Each ml contains :- Gentamicin sulfate equivalent to Gentamicin 50 mgIMG_1689gentanova5

 

Description :   Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with a bactericidal action against both

 gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. (For the details see insert enclosed.)

 

Indications :    For the treatment of infections caused by bacteria susceptible to Gentamicin
    recommended for respiratorytractinfections, gastrointestinal tract infections

                         urogenital tract infections, skin and soft tissues infections and otitis externa in

                         piglets, horses, dogs and cats. 

 

Dosage and administration : For the treatment of infections caused by bacteria susceptible to Gentamicin

 

In piglets (1 – 3 days old)
                        
By single intramuscular, dose 5 mg Gentamicin / one piglet or 0.1 ml GENTANOVA 5% / one piglet.

In horses         By intrauterine, dose 2 – 2.5 gm Gentamicin or 40 – 50 ml GENTANOVA 5% once dailyIMG_1644gentanova5

                         for 3 – 5 days during estrus.(Before administration, the dose should bediluted
                         with 200 – 500 ml of sterile physiological saline.)

 

In dogs – cats By intramuscular or subcutaneous, dose 4.4 mg Gentamicin / kg of bodyweight
                        
or 0.88 ml GENTANOVA 5% / 10 kg of bodyweight, twice daily on the first day,

                         once daily thereafter, for 5 – 7 consecutive days.

 

 Withdrawal times :   Piglets: Meat – 40 days

 

Precautions :   Do not use in known cases of hypersensitivity to Gentamicin.

                          In dogs and cats, treatment should not exceed 7 days.   

Storage :          Should not store above 25 °C and protect from direct sunlight.
